Arrival Procedures

The cafeteria and gym doors will open at 8:15am.  Students should arrive at school between 8:15am and 8:30am.  Breakfast is served in the cafeteria during that time.  The first bell will ring at 8:30am at which time the teachers will pick up their students.  The late bell rings at 8:45am.

Dismissal Procedures

Colgate runs a staggered dismissal.  Bus riders are dismissed to their bus gathering areas after the afternoon announcements.  Walkers and car riders will dismiss from the rear of the school by the playground and hard court.  Kindergarten and first grade are dismissed at 3:15pm. Second and fourth grades are dismissed at 3:17pm.  Third and fifth grades are dismissed at 3:19pm.

Behavior System

At Colgate, we implement PBIS: Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.  PBIS takes a positive approach to behavior management by rewarding appropriate behaviors with incentives like Cool Comets.  Students are taught what is expected of them in all school settings.

Behavior charts are sent home each day to ensure constant parent-teacher communication.  They should be signed nightly and returned to school the next day.
