Hello, I am the vocal/general music teacher and tech integration teacher at Colgate Elementary.  We have been doing some exciting things in music this year!  Keep checking back as this page will continually be updated.

Our Spring concert is coming up.  This year Colgate turns 90, so in honor of that we are having a "Back to the Future" theme.  Chamber Singers and 5th grade chorus will sing one song from each decade from the last 90 years!  If you are a chamber singer or chorus member, click on useful links to see videos of some of the songs you are working on!

5th graders have been working on a "Blues" unit.  They learned all about 12-bar blues and even composed and performed their own blues verses!

4th graders are currently working a harmony unit, by learning to play a descant on recorder to the Beatles song, "Let it Be."  This will go nicely into our melody unit, when they will create their own songs to be played on the recorder.

3rd graders are currently working on their recorder unit.  They have learned how to play B, A, and G and are learning to play Hot Cross Buns so they can earn a white belt and move to the next song.  They will also be starting to write simple B-A-G melodies to perform for their class.

2nd Grade is currently working on a project with the "Spiderweaver" Story.  They have created slides and imported them into Photostory 3 and now they are adding narration, instruments, transitions, and background music to create movies!

1st graders are starting to learn all about "Carnival of the Animals."  A symphony that features many animals.  They are learning to identify several of the pieces by imagining what animal the music sounds like!

Kindergarten is starting their travel unit.  They will learn all about the music elements while also learning lots of songs about different types of travel.  Planes, cars, trucks, horses, trains, and more!
